How to solve a word scramble

  • Think about the theme. Every word is about Thanksgiving, so start by listing words you expect, then check whether their letters are there.
  • Use the letter count. The number under each line tells you how long the word is.
  • Look for letter pairs. Common pairs like TH, CH, SH, ST and ER, and endings like ING and ED, are often hiding in the mix.
  • Try the vowels. Spot the vowels (A, E, I, O, U) and try putting a consonant between them. Writing the letters in a circle can help you see new orders.
  • Stuck? Show the word bank. It lists all twelve answers in alphabetical order, which turns the puzzle into a gentle matching game. It's a good way to start a group session.
